Frequently asked questions
These are the questions business owners ask most before moving their website to Lab Radical. If yours isn't here, email me and I'll answer it directly.
What is the Zero-Subscription Swap?
You cancel your current website subscription (Squarespace, Wix, WordPress hosting or similar) and pay Lab Radical the same monthly amount instead. In return I rebuild your site on a fast, modern framework and become your personal webmaster: I host it, keep it secure and published, and make changes when you ask. You send a text or email, such as a new menu, a price change or updated opening hours, and I publish it the same day.
Who owns my website, domain and content?
You do. Your domain name is registered in your name, and your text, photos and brand belong to you. I don't hold any of it hostage.
What happens if I want to leave?
You can leave any time. The arrangement is month-to-month with 30 days' notice. Your site's code is kept in its own private GitHub repository and hosted on its own project with a hosting platform such as Vercel or Netlify. When you leave, I transfer both to accounts you own (or to your next developer) within 7 days, along with your domain and content, and include a short hand-over guide so another developer can take over quickly.
What happens if Lab Radical closes or I can't reach you?
Your site doesn't depend on me being around. Your domain is registered in your name, and your site is its own repository and hosting project that you are entitled to have transferred to you. As a safeguard, I can add you (or someone you nominate) as a read-only collaborator on the repository and give you the hand-over guide, so a new developer can take over even if you can't reach me.
Is there a lock-in contract or a cancellation fee?
No lock-in contract and no cancellation fee. It's month-to-month with 30 days' notice.
What does it cost?
After setup, you pay the same monthly amount you currently pay for your website subscription, and that covers hosting, security, and the updates you send me. You don't need to set up or manage any hosting or code accounts yourself; I look after them for you. There is a one-off setup fee for rebuilding and migrating your site. It is quoted up front for your business and agreed in writing before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
What happens to my existing site, bookings, contact forms and email?
I rebuild your current pages, set up redirects so existing links and search rankings carry over, and reconnect your contact forms and booking links. Your email stays with your existing provider and isn't affected. Nothing goes live until you've reviewed it.
How quickly do changes get made?
For routine changes such as text, hours, menus, prices or photos, send a text or email and I publish it the same day. Larger changes, like a new page or a redesign, are quoted separately.
Why does an AI-search-ready website matter?
People now ask ChatGPT, Apple Intelligence, Perplexity and Google's AI features for recommendations. These tools read your website to answer. If your site doesn't clearly state your services, hours, prices and location in a form they can read, they may rely on directories, review sites or out-of-date listings instead. I build your site so the facts about your business are clear to both people and AI tools.
Can you guarantee more customers or higher rankings?
No, and I'd be wary of anyone who does. I can make sure your site is accurate, fast and easy for search engines and AI tools to read. I don't promise specific rankings, traffic or bookings.
Do you make health or treatment claims for dental and aesthetics clinics?
No. For regulated health services I only work on accuracy and clarity: opening hours, fees, health fund details, practitioner information and structured data. I don't write clinical claims, before-and-after promises or anything that would conflict with advertising rules.
Will my new site look the same as my current one?
By default it's a faithful rebuild: the same content and structure, made mobile-friendly, fast to load and easy to read. If you'd like a fresh look, I can refresh the design at the same time. That's optional and quoted separately.
